Pharma: Both are used as excipients — typically as binders or disintegrants in tablets and capsules. But pharma sourcing is a different ballgame. You need USP-NF or comparable monograph compliance, particle-size data, and batch-to-batch consistency. That is where I usually tell customers to skip the sales pitch. And if you are in pharma, the winner is the one that meets the monograph and the technical spec — not the one with the better marketing.
